 Silicon Impression Method

Special medical grade non-toxic non-allergic Silicon is used to take impression of eye socket, to form a model of the size and shape necessary for custom designing and fitting of a 3D Ocular prosthesis (3D Artificial Eye). The procedure is painless and most advance and latest in Ocularisty, just like used in impression scleral lens fitting. No topical anesthesia is required as the silicon material used is non toxic. This silicon impression technique is very useful for sensitive eye sockets or where sensitive cornea is present like in case of corneal opacity or pthysical eyes (shrunken eyes).

Acrylic plastic of a high density medical grade, non-toxic quality. Non-toxic pigments are used for cosmetics. Oxygen permeable material is available for an increased fee for those that would benefit from wearing RGP (rigid gas permeable) material.

Acrylic plastic has a high impact resistance to breakage.
The material can be scratched or damaged if dropped or scraped on hard, rough surfaces. The material can be resurfaced, buffed and polished to remove minor scratches, etc. and is recommended every year.
Silicon is highly resistant to impact & solvents but slightly less resistant to scratches.
Pigments are chemically bonded and cured to assure integrity of prosthesis color.

Acrylic material is tinted, molded and cured under pressure and temperature to provide a long-lasting, durable prosthesis (material may age and crystallize in about 5 to 10 years.)

Artwork is painted with liquid tinted acrylic (non-toxic) to match the companion eye. 

3D Iris button is used with digital painting to ditto match the fellow eye. Close up photo of fellow eye is used to prepare this 3D Iris for more natural and close mathing 3D custom made artificial eyes.

Scleral veining and pigmentation also are matched to other eye with woolen threds and liquid acrylic tinting . 

All color and veining is chemically cured and bonded to insure permanent, lasting color.
